Adding an Image to OBS

Open OBS:
- Launch OBS on your computer.

Add a New Source:
- In the “Sources” box at the bottom of the OBS window, click the “+” button to add a new source.

Select Image:
- Choose “Image” from the list of source types.

Name the Source:
- Give the new image source a name (e.g., “Logo” or “Overlay”) and click “OK.”

Browse and Select the Image File:
- In the “Properties” window, click the “Browse” button.

- Use the red bounding box to move, resize, and rotate the image within the scene.
Adding a Video File to OBS

Open OBS:
- Launch OBS on your computer.

Add a New Source:

Select Media Source:
- Choose “Media Source” from the list of source types.

Name the Source:
- Give the new media source a name (e.g., “Intro Video” or “Background Video”) and click “OK.”

Browse and Select the Video File:
- In the “Properties” window, click the “Browse” button.
- Navigate to the location of the video file on your computer, select it, and click “Open.”

Configure Media Source Settings:
- Check or uncheck options based on your needs:
- Local File: Ensure this is checked to use a file from your computer.
- Loop: Check this if you want the video to repeat continuously.
- Restart playback when source becomes active: Check this if you want the video to start over each time the source is made active.
- Show nothing when playback ends: Check this if you want the source to be invisible once the video finishes playing.
- Adjust the volume using the “Volume” slider if the video has audio.
- Click “OK” to add the video to your scene.
- Check or uncheck options based on your needs:

Position and Resize the Video:

Adding an Image to Streamlabs

Open Streamlabs:
- Launch Streamlabs on your computer.

Select the Scene:
- Choose the scene where you want to add the image.

Adding a Video File to Streamlabs

Open Streamlabs:
- Launch Streamlabs on your computer.

Select the Scene:
- Choose the scene where you want to add the video file.

Add a New Source:
- Click the “+” button in the “Sources” box to add a new source.

Choose Media Source:
- Select “Media Source” from the list of source options.
- Click “Add Source.”

Name the Source:
- Give the media source a name (optional).
- Click “Add Source” again.

Browse for the Video File:
- In the properties window, click “Browse” to find the video file on your computer.
- Select the video file and click “Open.”

Adjust Video Settings:
- Customize settings such as looping, restart playback when the source becomes active, use hardware decoding when available, and show nothing when playback ends.
- Click “Done” when you are satisfied with the settings.

Adding an Image or Video File to StreamElements

Log in to StreamElements:
- Go to the StreamElements website and log in with your streaming account (Twitch, YouTube, etc.).

Access Your Overlays:
- Click on the “Dashboard” on the left-hand side.
- Navigate to “My Overlays” under the “Streaming Tools” section.

Create or Edit an Overlay:
- To add an image or video to an existing overlay, click “Edit” on the desired overlay.
- To create a new overlay, click the “Create New Overlay” button.

Set Overlay Resolution:
- If creating a new overlay, you’ll need to set the resolution (e.g., 1920×1080 for Full HD).

Add Image or Video File:
- In the overlay editor, click the “+” button to add a new widget.
- Select “Static / Custom” from the widget options.
- Choose “Image” to add an image file, or “Video” to add a video file.

Upload Your Media:
- For Image:
- Click “Set Image” and then “Upload” to select an image file from your computer.
- Once uploaded, select the image from your library.
- For Video:
- Click “Set Video” and then “Upload” to select a video file from your computer.
- Once uploaded, select the video from your library.

Position and Resize:
- Drag the media element to position it on the overlay canvas.
- Use the handles on the corners of the element to resize it as needed.

Configure Settings (Optional):
- For images, you can set the duration if it’s part of a slideshow.
- For videos, you can configure playback options such as loop, mute, or start time.

Save Your Overlay:
- Once you’re satisfied with the placement and settings, click “Save” at the top right of the overlay editor.

Apply the Overlay to Your Stream:
- Copy the overlay URL by clicking the “Link” button.
- Paste the URL into your streaming software (OBS, Streamlabs, etc.) as a browser source.
Tips for Media Files
- File Formats: Ensure your images are in supported formats like PNG or JPEG, and videos are in formats like MP4 or Webm.
- File Size: Optimize your files to ensure they load quickly and do not impact your stream performance. Max size of the video files for upload is 30MB
- Resolution: Use high-resolution images and videos for better quality, but be mindful of the overall file size.
By following these steps, you can easily add and customize images or video files in your StreamElements overlays, enhancing your stream’s visual appeal and professional look.
Additional Tips
- Layering: The order of sources in the “Sources” list determines their layering on the screen. Drag sources up or down to change their order.
- Locking Sources: Once you’ve positioned an image or video, you can lock it in place by clicking the lock icon next to the source name. This prevents accidental movement or resizing.
- Source Visibility: Toggle the eye icon next to a source name to show or hide it without removing it from the scene.
