Adding Text in StreamElements
Log in to StreamElements:
- Go to StreamElements and log in with your streaming account.
Access Overlay Manager:
- In the dashboard, navigate to “Overlay” under the “Streaming Tools” section.
Create or Edit an Overlay:
- Click “Create New Overlay” or select an existing overlay to edit.
Add a Text Widget:
- Click the “+” button to add a new widget.
- Select “Text” from the widget list.
Customize the Text:
- Text Settings: Enter the text you want to display in the provided text box.
- Appearance: Adjust font, size, color, and style. You can also add text effects and adjust the alignment.
- Positioning: Drag and resize the text on the overlay canvas to position it as desired.
Save Your Overlay:
- After customizing, click “Save” to save your changes.
- Copy the “Overlay URL” if you need to add this overlay to your streaming software.
Add to Streaming Software (if needed):
- Open your streaming software (e.g., OBS, Streamlabs Desktop).
- Add a “Browser Source” and paste the Overlay URL you copied.
Steps to Add Text in Streamlabs Desktop
Open Streamlabs Desktop:
- Launch Streamlabs Desktop on your computer.
Select Your Scene:
- Choose the scene where you want to add the text. You can select an existing scene or create a new one by clicking the “+” button under the “Scenes” box.
Add a Text Source:
- In the “Sources” box, click the “+” button to add a new source.
- Select “Text (GDI+)” from the list of source options.
Create a New Text Source:
- A window will pop up asking you to “Create a New Source”. Name your text source (e.g., “Title Text”) and click “Add Source”.
Configure Text Settings:
- Text: In the “Text” field, enter the text you want to display on your stream.
- Font: Choose the font style, size, and color. You can also adjust other properties like bold, italic, and underline.
- Text Outline: Enable and customize the outline if needed to make the text stand out.
- Text Shadow: Add and adjust a shadow effect for better readability.
Customize Text Appearance:
- Text Formatting: Adjust the alignment and formatting options such as line spacing and word wrap.
- Scroll Text: If you want to create scrolling text (like a news ticker), check the “Use Text Scroll” option and adjust the scroll speed and direction.
Position and Resize Text:
- After configuring the text settings, click “Done” to add the text source to your scene.
- Use the red bounding box to move and resize the text on your canvas. Click and drag the edges to resize, or click and drag the entire text to reposition it.
Apply Changes and Save:
- Once you’re satisfied with the text’s appearance and placement, click “Close” to finalize the changes.
- Ensure that your text source is correctly layered and visible in the scene. You can adjust its order in the “Sources” list if needed.
Test Your Text:
- Preview your stream or use the “Preview Stream” feature to ensure that the text appears as intended.
Adding Text in OBS Studio
Open OBS Studio:
- Launch OBS Studio on your computer.
Add a Text Source:
- In the “Sources” box, click the “+” button and select “Text (GDI+)” for Windows or “Text” for other platforms.
Create and Customize Text:
- Create New Text: Enter a name for your text source and click “OK”.
- Text Settings: In the properties window, enter your text in the “Text” field. Adjust font, size, color, and other settings such as text alignment and effects (e.g., drop shadow, outline).
- Positioning: Use the preview window to drag and resize the text as needed on your stream layout.
Apply and Save:
- Click “OK” to add the text to your scene.
- You can further adjust the position and appearance directly in the preview window.
